Data Engineer

Monarch are working with a large government organisation that are recruiting for a Data Engineer to assist them on an initial 3 month contract. This is a hybrid role and you can work from either their, London, Bristol or Manchester offices 1-2 days per week. This role falls inside IR35. 

Some of the responsibilities include: 

• Support the team moving to cloud base data storage solution (AWS) from existing databases, create a proof on concept for an end to end automated data dashboard.
• Translate user requirements and data models into effective, scalable, robust ETL solutions in line with build standards and data regulations, ensuring code is production ready.
• Build accessible data for analysis, supporting the development and underlying data infrastructure of tools that improve our understanding of data.

• Experience working in teams that design, develop, test and implement efficient and effective data solutions in complex environments
• Strong extract, transform, load (ETL) experience and solid programming/database programming knowledge, specifically Python and SQL
• Experience working with structured and unstructured data in cloud computing environments, such as AWS and GCP, for storage, compute and other applications
• Experience in effective decision making, weighing up the accumulation of technical debt and tooling to use versus the delivery of data engineering solutions
