Oracle Developer, PL/SQL, Development, .Net, C#
We are currently looking for an Oracle PL/SQL Developer to join our client on a permanent basis.
Location: London - with hybrid working arrangements - 2/3 days on site
Start: ASAP
Interview: 2 stage interview process
Within the role you will be joining a large financial client to help support and develop the Oracle databases. You will be working closely with teams around the world to do this.
Key Responsibilities:- Ensuring smooth and stable operation of the Prod and Non-Prod Oracle Servers. Daily tasks will involve ensuring that database consistency checks are clean, contingency measures have been met and user maintenance has been performed.
- Troubleshooting the system in the event of failure and implementing solutions, including switching over to the disaster recovery server.
- Designing and scheduling the disaster recovery strategy for the Oracle Server which will be used in the event of an off-site business operation being required.
- Liaising with the relevant support teams, i.e. Development, Technical Support or Application Support, when a user reports a database related issue. In effect, acting as second line support.
Key skills and experience required:- You will need to have a good working knowledge of designing and developing scripts for ETL processes to support in-house Data Warehouse system.
- Strong hands-on experience with performance tuning scripts to improve the performance as well as to guide the development team in re-structuring table/indexes.
- Strong working experience and knowledge of troubleshooting the database scripts especially for the ETL jobs. This will sometimes involve early morning or late-night support as a part of Second line support team.
- Supporting the .NET development team in London with day-to-day issues on the Oracle Databases. Sometimes, this will require liaising with NY/Ireland DBA team for troubleshooting to provide assistance to the development team.
- Requirements to follow the “Change Management Control procedures” in order to get the necessary approvals for any Production updates and “Maintenance reports” for Release, QA and Development environments
