Cloud Engineer (PaaS)

Monarch IT are currently recruiting for several Cloud Engineers for a one of the largest retail organisations in the UK. You will be working on a permanent basis, fully remote, with occasional travel to the office. Salary - £45,000/ £55,000 per annum depending on experience.

In this role you will be using technologies such as AWS, Jenkins, Docker, Ansible, HashiCorp Vault, Packer, Kitchen, Jira and Confluence, Nexus, GitHub, Mesos & Marathon, Mongodb, HashiCorp Consul, Ldap, OpenVPN, Kong, Kafka, DataDog, Kibana and Logstash.

You will be working closely with the other Cloud Engineers within the team and Software Engineers throughout the business to help develop and manage the container orchestration platform underpinning much of one of their brands online presence.

You will ensure that you support and deliver the cloud microservice infrastructure and its resources which is scalable, reliable, and reproducible through IaC (Infrastructure as Code).

What we’re looking for:

 • In-depth understanding of AWS and its core components.
 • Strong skills in orchestration tools such as Ansible, CloudFormation and Terraform.
 • Knowledge of one or more programming languages bash, groovy, python, java.
 • Working knowledge of Jenkinsfile and seed-jobs.
 • Good Understanding of DevOps and Agile methodologies.
 • Ability to learn and understand new technologies and continuously share knowledge with the other engineers.
 • An in-depth understanding of HTTP protocols, request routing and performance as requests pass through the system layers.
 • Understanding of how networking, security groups and routing tables work in AWS.
 • Implementation of good security practices across all cloud infrastructure.
 • Ability to quickly identify infrastructure related issues.
