Accessibility Specialist

Monarch are working with a large government organisation that are recruiting for an Accessibility Specialist to assist them on an initial 12 month contract, inside IR35. This position will be a mixture of remote and on site in either, London, Bristol or Manchester. 

Some of the deliverables include:

• Identify and implement ways to champion and/embed accessibility in regular practice for all GOV.UK colleagues                                                                                                     
• Benchmark and track the success of interventions to embed accessibility practices                     
• Procure good tools which check for accessibility problems and can be incorporated into our code deployment pipeline                                                                                                                    
• Interpret and prioritise the result of the GOV.UK accessibility audit                                                   
• Support and advise departments on how to create accessible content   
• Support GOV.UK by Interpreting the web content and accessibility guidelines to improve accessibility and avoid legal challenge                                                                                                           
• Review and implement GOV.UK’s accessibility strategy
  

• Expert knowledge of existing and emerging accessibility guidelines and standards                            
• Familiarity with front-end development technologies, specifically HTML, CSS, JavaScript                  
• Experience of evaluating the accessibility of digital websites and providing feedback, advice and solutions to help fix identified issues                                                                                                                   
• Experience of testing with a range of assistive technologies including customised browser settings, screen magnification, screen readers, speech recognition and literacy software                                         
• Experience of collaborating with delivery teams to identify and fix accessibility barriers and raise accessibility capability                                                                                                                         
• Demonstrable ability to write accessibility guidance and documentation, and deliver accessibility training and presentations
