Application Support Engineer - Java

This role is INSIDE IR35 – meaning you will have to operate via an umbrella organisation. 

This exciting contract has arisen to work for a global electronics organisation part of their Network platform. They require a strong Software Systems Engineer to work with their operations and platform across their Global Services and Application Support. This person will work with complex software applications, investigate and manager the web technical issues and drive resolutions via their online network platform.

Key Skills and Responsibilities 

• This specialist Software Engineer will work with my client’s global platform in providing 24/7 operational support with their web optimisation and development  
• Provide technical application support for the online communication platform  
• This person will investigate issues and solve problems part of their software/application/service issues and misuse.  
• If required, they will identify and escalate issues to the root causes of systemic issues and lead/facilitate a prompt resolution.  
• Create/maintain comprehensive support and process documentation where required.  
• Interface with international groups and external parties to provide application support.  
• Fulfill business support service requests (web troubleshooting, log reviews, etc.).  
• You will also work with systems, applications, and performance monitoring.  
• You Utility/tools development to improve support processes. 

• A Strong Software Developer/Engineer with excellent scripting skills, supporting web applications using their programming skills  
• Provide Application support for the Network platform 
• Programming experience in Java or strong scripting skills (Ruby, Bash, or Python). 
• Experience supporting web applications in Java, Tomcat and desirably LAMP stacks. 
• Experience troubleshooting complex systems and applications on privacy platforms (nix platforms).
• Experience using source control, web bug tracking, and ticketing systems in a team environment.
• Experience of working large scale systems administration and/or software development experience.  
• Exposure with application monitoring tools, such as Nagios, Splunk, BigPanda, Sensu, etc.  
• Exposure to with monitoring service for cloud-scale applications, such as DataDog, CloudWatch.
• Experience with enterprise monitoring  
• Experience building scalable systems with very high levels of concurrency and transactions.  
• Database experience with SQL, especially Oracle, MySQL, or Big Data experience  
• Experience developing applications on Unix/Linux platforms.  
• Experience with e-commerce, especially in payment processing on a global scale.
