We are currently working with a large global IT services organisation to recruit two Solution Architects and a Lead Architect to join their Birmingham based team.  Please see details of both roles below.


Solutions Architect – Up to £65K + car


Main Duties of the Job:
  • Conceptualise and Design complex solutions, covering multiple sites, and including hosted Data Centre infrastructures, Public Cloud (Azure) Collaboration or End User Computer.
  • Technical ownership of Solutions and engaging closely with the Sales team.
  • Run technical workshops covering multiple technologies to define customer requirements.
  • Perform pre-sales activity in support of the Business Development team.
  • Create Statements of Works, RFP responses and Proposals.
  • The role requires detailed design skills specific to the individuals' technology specialisation complemented by an architecture-level appreciation of all relevant complementary technologies.
  • Demonstrating an ongoing, proactive approach, working alongside Professional Services Lead Architects in developing and delivering service offerings based on industry best practice and “new to market” technologies.
  • Development and delivery of technology-specific presentations to both large audience seminars and project workshop environments.
  • Maintain knowledge of project delivery methodologies and technology roadmaps in the particular field of specialisation.
  • Maintain a broad understanding of competitive products to the individuals' specialisation, an understanding of their architectural principles and, where appropriate, design skills and accreditations in these products
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of industry standards relevant to the role.
  • To adhere to all company policies and processes as communicated by line management in order to maintain corporate ISO accreditation levels.
  • To obtain and maintain technical accreditations as required by management in accordance with the guidelines provided by manufacturers and software vendors.
  • Act as a mentor in leading and developing other team members.
  • Work in conjunction with the appropriate sales personnel to understand the opportunities for Professional Services within their accounts and develop team skills to meet the requirement.
  • At all times to provide a courteous service and professional approach to customers and to the delivery of allocated tasks as required.
  • To perform any other duties which, from time to time may be allocated by your Team Leader/Manager.
 

Lead Architect – Up to £70K + car


Main Duties of Job:
  • Act as technical lead for complex customer engagements
  • Take overall ownership of technical solutions and design documentation
  • Lead technical design workshops and participate in project definition workshops
  • Ensure alignment of business and technical objectives for customer projects
  • Act as the key programme or project technical contact for customers and colleagues
  • Work alongside programme and project management colleagues to define and deliver programme and project documentation
  • Carry out presales activities, where required, in support of Solution Architecture and sales force colleagues
  • Provide technology thought leadership to customers and colleagues
  • Participate in peer review of documentation for colleagues
  • Ensure documentation standards are maintained across engagements
  • Act as a mentor to lead and develop colleagues
  • Maintain a broad understanding of competitive products and associated architectural principles
  • Working alongside Professional Services Solution Architecture colleagues to develop and deliver service offerings based on industry best practice and emerging technologies
  • To obtain and maintain technical accreditations as required by management in accordance with the guidelines provided by manufacturers and software vendors
Essential skills
  • 10 years plus relevant experience delivering enterprise level architecture solutions
  • Demonstrable experience of presenting technical solutions to both technology focused and non-technology focused customers up to and including board level personnel
  • Demonstrable knowledge of a broad range of technologies with specific focus on Microsoft including Azure and Office 365
  • Understanding of complementary, core technologies including network and network security infrastructure, storage area networking, and virtualisation
  • Professional qualifications e.g. MCP, MCSE, CCIA, VCP
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of industry standards and best practice techniques
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experienced in the management and motivation of technical personnel
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and also unaided
  • Commercially aware with strong client facing and vendor relationship management skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet aggressive deadlines
  • Ability to adapt and prioritise workloads to meet client objectives
  • Ability to anticipate, communicate, and mitigate technical risks and issues
