We currently have an urgent requirement for a Portfolio Manager to join a market leading company based in Birmingham. My client is going through an exciting phase of expansion and are looking to add an experienced Strategic Portfolio Manager to help drive their project services team.

This role is a critical part of the strategic programme function and is the single role that manages the strategic portfolio on a day to day basis and leads the small, but productive strategic portfolio team.  

  • Leading and managing strategic portfolio team (2 SMEs)
  • Team reward and recognition
  • Leads and managers all aspects of the strategic portfolio, including: Planning, resourcing, benefits, RAID and financial.
  • Implements, manages and matures the end to end portfolio management processes and standards
  • Ensures that all portfolio reporting is completed in a timely manner and to the agreed quality criteria
  • Monitors all portfolio KPIs
  • Manages portfolio business cases and ensures that these remain relevant and fit for purpose
  • Ensure portfolio delivery adheres to portfolio standards – common and better practice

What we are looking for

Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate awareness and previous knowledge of the following:
  • Have worked in a large complex Blue Chip environment
  • Have completed the delivery of a similar sized portfolio in to complex environments
  • Experienced PPM professional with at least 5 years’ hands on delivery experience
  • Ability to identify, assess and prioritise
  • Customer focused
  • 3-5 years’ experience in working in a Group IT shared service environment
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills, can communicate well at all levels (written and verbal)
  • Excellent team leader and manager
  • Proactively identifies areas for improvement
  • Must understand and have experience working with: MoP, PRNCE 2, Waterfall, Agile, MSP and APM
