Job Description

Head of PMO  - Plus 33% bonus, company car, pension, healthcare, 25 days holiday


The Head of PMO will establish and manage a Programme Management Office (PMO) to provide top down visibility of corporate portfolio of major programmes, facilitating the ongoing alignment of major programmes with corporate strategic objectives, whilst supporting delivery and reducing overall risk to the organisation.
 

Specific responsibilities:

Provide top down visibility of the corporate portfolio and major programmes

Provide neutral and independent advice for Programmes

Establish the use of common Programme Management standards, reporting, tools and documentation

Establish and maintain a suite of key performance indication metrics, which include business benefits

Commission and facilitate reviews to review prioritisation of portfolio delivery, performance, dependency identification, risk reduction and issue resolution

Provide visibility of current/forecast Programme Management supply and demand numbers with plans to address any shortfall, and as necessary, reducing organisational strain

Provide progress and financial updates to management

Lead, manage and mentor an expert team providing Programme Management, best practice and reporting advice

Key skills and competencies required:
  • Degree qualified
  • Project management qualification
  • Experience of running a portfolio of programmes and managing a programme management office
  • Significant experience of leadership on large, complex, multi-disciplinary programmes
  • Experience within matrix management and a matrix organisation
  • IT PMO experience
  • Experience at the highest level of building and managing effective partnerships and handling conflict resolution across divisions / countries
  • Good knowledge of, and proven practical ability for, budgeting and resource allocation procedures and the ability to make difficult choices as to the deployment of resources
  • Experience of transformation and business change programmes
