General Responsibilities:
  • Deals with high impact, complex change requests. Ensures that release policies, procedures and processes are applied
  • Takes the end user experience and utilises IT Operations’ processes to deliver an effective service.
  • Is the decision maker. The decisions may include an element of risk. Leads, communicates, facilitates and resolves outputs and decisions. Carries out an element of communication management
  • Takes accountability of issues that occur and is proactive in searching for potential problems. Achieves excellent user outcomes.
  • Initiates and monitors actions to investigate, analyses patterns and trends and resolves problems in systems, processes and services. Determines problem fixes and/or remedies. Assists with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures.
  • Drafts and maintains procedures and documentation for databases. Sets standards for definition, security and integrity of database objects and ensures conformance to these standards.
  • Coordinates and manages planning of the system and/or acceptance tests, both functional and non- functional specifications. Provides authoritative advice and guidance on any aspect of test planning and execution. Identifies process improvements, and contributes to corporate testing standards and definition of best practice
  • Maintains secure configuration, applying and maintaining tools, techniques and processes to identify, track, log and maintain accurate, complete and current information. Controls IT assets in one or more significant areas. Produces and analyses registers and histories of authorised assets and verifies that all these assets are in a known state and location.
  • Manages the capability, functionality and sustainability of service components to meet current and forecast needs in a cost efficient manner aligned to the business Analyses service and component availability, reliability, maintainability and serviceability.
  • Ensures that services and components meet and continue to meet all of their agreed performance targets and service levels. Understands core technical concepts related to their role and is able to apply them with guidance. Interacts with and reads code, and is able to carry out baseline repair activities.
  • Identifies improvements and supports proposed solutions through to implementation by supporting the organisation and introducing more effective and efficient technologies (people, processing and tooling) to deliver increased automation.
  • Knowledge of a service management framework (e.g. ITIL) terminology, structure and basic concepts, and comprehend the core practices for service management.
