Infrastructure Consultant - Salary up to 55K plus company car/allowance, 10% bonus 8% pension and private healthcare

An opportunity has arisen for an Infrastructure Consultant at one of the UK's most exciting IT companies. My client is looking for someone with a strong background working with a broad range of Infrastructure technologies. The position will focus on project work, from initial design right through to implementation. This will be an ideal role for someone that is looking to move away from BAU support or just simply someone that enjoys delivering on projects and working in a varied role.

The role of the Infrastructure Consultant is to provide the most senior level of technical leadership and subject matter expertise within the Hosting & Storage Team.  The Infrastructure Consultant will be a Subject Matter Expert across all technical areas within the Hosting & Storage Team and shall act as Technical Design Authority to ensure solution compliance to Service and Technical standards. 


• Acts as Technical Design Authority and represents the team at Technical Design and Governance bodies
•  Provides technical leadership and direction for engineering activities across the team
• Identifies operational optimisation opportunities and develops Operational Improvement Plans
• Develops or assures High-level technical solutions provided by the team
• Responsible for implementing and maintaining overall technical design and configurations for the existing service technology
• Develops or assures Low-level technical designs for solutions provided by the team
• Develops and assures correct and relevant toolsets for the delivery of the service including monitoring, deployment, backup, reporting and other operational tools.
• Contributes to the activities relating to Strategic IT Projects including business case development, technology assessments, High Level Design work, due diligence and other activities related to the future technologies.
• Represents the teams at key ITIL Process touch points including Change Advisory Boards, Problem Management, Technical Design Authority, Major Incident Management
• Provides hands-on engineering support and expertise to complex  technical activities such as Root Cause Analysis, Trouble Shooting, Project recovery/remediation plans, Technical Risk assessments, SME Consultancy and advice.

An individual highly motivated to be a technical leader and true SME in their fields of technical expertise.  The individual will be passionate about technology and achieving the maximum benefit from its implementation.  Principal Hosting & Storage Engineer will thrive on translating the most complex technological matters into meaningful solutions.  The Principal Hosting & Storage Engineer will have an eye for detail and be exacting and methodical in technical specification, design and analysis work.  The individual will be skilled in understanding the pros and cons of different technical possibilities and solutions and ensure the application of technology is done to best fit business requirements.  The individual will be agnostic to technologies and take a broader view when analysing problems and solutions and will take an open-minded approach to all activities.

• A Technical Computer Science Degree, Higher Education qualification or extensive business technical experience
• High-level and up-to-date technical qualifications relevant to virtualization, cloud technologies and server solutions (e.g. VCP & MCSE)
• Relevant Enterprise Architecture qualifications
• Relevant ITIL qualifications beyond ‘Foundation’ level
• Maintains Customer Satisfaction/engagement training
